Help with a Business Plan
How do I get help with writing
a business plan?
Look in our Directory
under Business Advice or Business Services. You should
also ask your local Business Link. But you could help
yourself by buying a good software program and writing
the plan yourself – try stepbystep.
Is a business
plan consultant the same as a business plan adviser?
Probably, but make sure they have some relevant accreditation
e.g are they on the National Business Link Consultant
Register?
What is the
best way of using a business plan consultant and getting
help with a business plan?
The most cost effective way of using a consultant is
to write most of the plan yourself and ask the consultant
to review it with you. We always recommend this process,
even when people use our software. External input will
provide lateral thinking and objectivity to your plan.
What range
of services does a consultant or adviser provide?
A consultant or adviser could do a much or as little
as you want – from just reviewing your draft to
writing the plan for you – but in the case of
the latter, unless you have discussed it thoroughly
with the adviser, you might be in danger of not having
‘ownership’ of your plan.
How do I find
a business plan adviser?
You could ask your accountant, solicitor or bank if
they have any contacts that can help you. Also ask your
local Business Link www.businesslink.gov.uk
How much does
a business plan adviser charge?
This will depend on his involvement but you will save
yourself money by buying a good software program and
writing the plan yourself and only using the consultant
to review your work. |
